You have reached this website because you want to join the appeal to STOP the construction, as currently submitted, due to the detrimental impact this project will forever have on people’s lives and your neighborhood. The City is not required to approve this application which is in conflict with its own guidelines designed to protect neighborhoods, residents, stakeholders, and especially because it is demonstrated that its fulfillment will unreasonably diminish the quality of life in the neighborhood. Any development should enhance residents’ lives, not merely the developer’s wallet. This one falls far short. We need to let the City to LISTEN TO ITS CITIZENS AND DENY THIS PROJECT!

Background

Out-of-state investors – who have no connection with the neighborhood – want to build a 52,250 square foot, 4-story, high-density structure that IS NOT ALLOWED BY OUR OWN CITY CODE OF ELD ORDINANCE! It takes 4 lots to build the one structure!

Deviations from the Code include: 89% density increase, 16% FAR increase, a 67% decrease in rear setback, extremely high and potentially dangerous walls within 5 feet from adjacent homes!

Investors – who have no connection with the neighborhood – will destroy low-density AFFORDABLE house on Venice Blvd – without replacement. Units in the building begin at a base price of $5,000 per month with additional features (depending on desire) raising it another $5,000 to $10,000 per month–per person! Could you afford to live here?

There is SIGNIFICANT HARM TO THE NEIGHBORHOOD AND HOME VALUES! Cast shadows, increased emergency vehicles, reduced privacy, block views, loss of precious green space, reduced street parking.

Despite COVID lockdowns, a short notice window was given for the final appeal – THIS WEDNESDAY, JUNE 17 at 4:30pm.

State you oppose as “not compatible with the scale and character of the neighborhood,” and that you “support a continuance for the neighborhood to prepare their appeal.” In the body provide your address to show that you are impacted.

  • Provide Public Comment at the Online Appeal (telcon) on June 17 at 4:30pm
